Intensive online portuguese course

How does the course work?

Based on a communicative approach, the language teaching of our courses is carried out in different cultural and social contexts, which provides a rich experience for students to practice Portuguese in a very pleasant environment: practical situations of everyday communication, pronunciation, vocabulary for specific purposes, such as school, work and leisure, developing the four language learning skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
If you are an international student, expatriate, immigrant or simply passionate about Brazil and want to learn about our Language and Culture, study Portuguese at FAAP.
For levels 2, 3 and 4, an interview is required. For level 1, English or Spanish is required. Any question, please e-mail: international3@faap.br.
No. All classes are online, via Zoom.
It has 4 levels of studies spanning on 7 weeks (100 hours) each, where you’ll learn basic to advanced Portuguese (A1 to B2/C1), according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR.
As online classes, they happen via Zoom, and you will study through the platform CANVAS.

Content Description

The Portuguese language and the Brazilian culture for foreigners are taught in a very friendly and interactive environment.

Objectives: At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will have the ability to introduce himself, greet people, talk about himself and others, talk about his routine and ask others about their routines, tell the time, report simple facts in past time, talk about the weather, make quick comparisons, go shopping using units of measurement, talk about a future action, understand and give directions, communicate, even with a little hesitation, in public places, as in a restaurant, at a hotel and at the airport. It is also expected that he will be able to write and understand simple texts, with a predominance of colloquial language.

Objectives: At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will be able to understand more elaborated sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance. He will also communicate on simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Even with some hesitation he will make assumptions and raise hypotheses. It is also expected that he will be able to write and understand simple texts, with a predominance of colloquial language.

Objectives: At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will have more ability to make assumptions, raise hypotheses, make reports using the passive voice, talk about the various forms of sports and leisure, talk about health problems and medical specialties. To interpret and comment about literary works, chronicles, and journalistic texts, with more confidence. It is also expected that he will be able to understand a great deal of programs and movies on TV, with a predominance of colloquial language.

  • Adverbs and Adverbials phrases
  • Compound Tenses

  • Suffixes and prefixes
  • Personal and impersonal infinitive
  • Types of housing, health problems, medical specialties, and others

Objectives: At the end of the course, it is expected that the student will be able to understand longer conversations and the main points of the TV news as well as other informative TV programs. To achieve a better understanding and interpretation of written texts. The students will also be able to write a text with adequate vocabulary to inform or show their concerns about the pros and cons about a specific subject. Discuss the labor market and the profiles of national and international companies taking into consideration their cultural differences. The students will have the capacity of interacting easily and naturally in some conversations with local native speakers. They may actively take part in discussions for social and professional purposes.

Brazilian history, literature, culture and updates

The teaching includes daily political and economic issues in Brazil and important literature masterpieces. The course covers various areas, such as, technology, art and culture, life- style, tourism and sports.
